White Barn Inn Wedding Styled Shoot | Kennebunkport, ME

White Barn Inn Wedding Styled Shoot in Kennebunkport, ME

As a wedding and events floral studio near Portsmouth, NH, I have a very clear mission. I encourage couples to think beyond traditional wedding norms and craft an environment that is uniquely their own. Because of this, I wanted to bring attention to the endless possibilities for florals that lend a more unconventional and immersive wedding aesthetic. To do so, I collaborated with Kara Patten on the styled shoot featured here. This labor of love was designed to share this aesthetic– nontraditional, unique, fresh, & cool– with the world. The White Barn Inn was the perfect location to do just that!

The White Barn Inn

Nestled in the heart of Kennebunkport, ME, The White Barn Inn is a luxurious yet welcoming venue, perfect for couples seeking an intimate and artfully curated wedding experience. I always love a cozy boutique hotel that has character and soul. The food is wonderfully delicious, the staff is exceptional, and the venue is luxurious without being stuffy. It’s perfect for a romantic intimate, New England wedding. And, in our case, an atmosphere that pairs beautifully with florals dripping with personality.

Designing a Unique Kennebunkport, Maine Wedding Experience

At Nectar & Vessel, seasonality and artistry are at the heart of every design.  In season, we source 90% solely from local farms and grow some of our own specialty blooms. We believe in allowing the seasonality of the moment to lead us. During a typical design, local heirloom blooms are used to highlight the ephemeral New England growing season. However, creative sourcing and design techniques allowed for a rich display for this November shoot outside the normal growing season.

Art-Inspired Florals at The White Barn Inn

The floral artistry of this shoot was heavily influenced by Dutch and Flemish still life paintings—where fruit, florals, and intricate compositions tell a story of abundance and opulence. Every detail was carefully considered to create a sense of depth and wonder. I blended florals, textures, and still-life-inspired tablescapes to create an atmosphere brimming with romance, wild beauty, and rich storytelling.

I sourced pomegranates still on the branches from California, upon which I carefully placed a beautiful taxidermized butterfly. For the bouquet, I mixed Chocolate ranunculus and Heart roses, then tied the bouquet with Silk & Willow Gossamer Silk ribbon in Ochre. Each floral composition was designed to encourage couples to reimagine how flowers can play a role in shaping the mood of their wedding.

White Barn Inn Wedding Aesthetic

The core approach with our clients revolves around the belief that a wedding should feel as good as it looks. We want to entice couples to expand their idea of what a wedding needs to look like and go with what they really want to feel. At the start of every inquiry, our clients are asked a simple but revealing question: "What is your desired feeling state for your wedding day?"  Their answer informs the decisions we make moving forward with the florals & tablescapes of their wildest dreams.
